Why You Need Better Tools for Measuring Vibration

Manufacturing any type of product today requires careful control over a variety of factors within the manufacturing process. Not only do you need to have the right machinery, something that requires a major investment on the part of your company, but you need to make sure that your machinery is able to operate within very tight tolerances to ensure that the products that you manufacture are able to meet or exceed your quality standards.

One of the difficult parts of manufacturing is in the fact that machinery doesn’t always do what it’s supposed to do. Machines break down or they may not operate properly, and there is an inherent cost when that happens. You can’t completely prevent machinery from breaking down or having issues, but there are ways to manage those problems more effectively.

For example, catching issues that will require repair or that will result in lower quality products can be done by doing things like measuring vibration. Vibration is something that all machinery produces when in operation, and when a machine is operating normally there is a relatively consistent vibration that can be seen. When you notice that machinery is operating outside of those normal vibration bands, then you can take a moment to step back and identify where there might be issues. If you’re able to spot and remedy those issues earlier then you can reduce the cost of problems.

STI offers everything from full condition monitoring systems to PLC vibration input sensors, and much more. If you’re looking for more information on how we’re able to do that, then visit our website today at www.stiweb.com.
