Using a Velocity Sensor to Measure Vibration


Vibration testing detects performance issues and potential failures before they start. Vibration is most commonly measured using an accelerometer. An accelerometer is a sensor that measures the dynamic acceleration of a physical device as a voltage. This equipment may also have settings for measuring frequency, a frequency-weighting network, and a display.

Vibration monitoring systems play a crucial role in the analysis and diagnostics of machinery. It is a fundamental component of predictive maintenance. It allows a company to discover imbalance, looseness, misalignment, or bearing wear in machinery before failure, preventing costly, substantial damage.  

These instruments are structured and capable to analyze many mechanical issues of unbalance, detachment, misalignment and bearing mishaps in a wide variety of machines, such as engines, fans, blowers, belts, chain drives, gearboxes, couplings, siphons, blowers, shut coupled machines and shafts.

Handheld vibration meters have gone through major upgrades that have resulted in improved performance issues. Vibration monitor meters have become very adaptable, practical, and multifaceted.  Most vibration meter models feature a data logger that collects and records vibration measurement data. In this way, the vibration data can be captured with better accuracy.

The degree of vibrations during development work relies upon dynamic elements, topography, and structures. Likewise, these vibrations may affect remote structures differently when contrasted with the structures near a building site. It is crucial to use a vibration testing system for any building structure. Further, always make sure you obtain a velocity sensor from a reputable leading company.
